SolaceCD086 – Illapa “Lascivo Culto Solar”
roots of the modern “Indigenous Nationalist” movement within Black
Metal owe its origin to 2 places: The ONSP from Mexico & Illapa from
Peru. Illapa began as an idea in 1993 and have only released a mere two
albums worth of material in there almost 30 year existence. The out of
print “Lascivo Culto Solar” album was originally released on major
Peruvian labels back in 2009 and has just never been reissued for the
international or South American marketplace on CD.
Illapa roughly in English translates to “Thunderclap” (the same as Grom
from New York) and the actions of this band built in Peru, a Nationalist
music scene dedicated to the ancestral heritage of the
Moche/Incan/Andean pre-Columbian/Hispanic peoples that has to date,
never been assimilated into modern underground black metal culture.
Recorded with a full line-up in a professional studio mixing tribal
percussion, Andean paganist lyrics and the rich musical depth common
among the textured Peruvian metal scene. This album is a mandatory
purchase for anybody interested in the rapidly rising Indigenous black
metal scene that would’ve been considered “ahead of it’s time” upon it’s
original release. This band was doing what bands like Maquahuitl,
Infernach, Sacrificial Massacre, Orden De Sangre Y Sol, Blood Division
& Tezcatlipoca are currently doing, some decades prior.
release will be limited to 300 copies, presented as a 6 panel digipack
w/inside spine printing & 8 page booklet showcasing the rich
artistic depth of this music while maintaining the high standards of
underground aesthetic, quality, availability, and affordability. A
complementing standout to the eclectic catalog of Winter Solace
releases. LPs of this and potentially the other album may happen when
the vinyl manufacturing climate improves.
